Wine Spectator names Chiarlo as one of its 100 Great Italian Producers
To mark the opening of next year’s Vinitaly event, Veronafiere, the Verona Fair Organizers and Wine Spectator have arranged a special, exclusive tasting entitled “OperaWine - Finest Italian Wines: 100 Great Producers”. One of those producers will be Michele Chiarlo.
On the one hand, Italy with its foremost wine promotion event, Vinitaly; on the other, the “rest of the world” led by the American magazine Wine Spectator, a must-read for the whole wine sector. It should come as no surprise to see the two joining together to give rise to an exceptional event in which 100 top quality wineries from every region in Italy will lay on a grand vertical tasting, the first ever in Europe to embrace the whole boot from north to south, plus the islands of course.
“Finest Italian Wines: 100 Great Producers” will be the first event to be organized by Opera Wine, the project launched by Veronafiere to give even greater visibility to Italian winemaking and bring international merchants, dealers and experts here to Italy to appreciate the excellence of our products. The 100 “Great Producers”, who will each be present with one of their top wines, were chosen exclusively by Wine Spectator.
It is with great pride and honour that Michele Chiarlo has accepted the invitation to be one of the élite one hundred. The accolade is a recognition of all the work that has placed the winery among the crème de la crème of world winemaking.
Based in Calamandrana, in the province of Asti, Chiarlo’s roots are still firmly planted in its native Piedmontese soil, whose characteristics its bottles capture so faithfully and with so much quality. Chiarlo’s Barolo Cerequio 2007 will join the other 99 bottles at “OperaWine - Finest Italian Wines: 100 Great Producers” at the magnificent Palazzo della Ragione in Verona on Saturday March 24 2012, on the eve of the opening of the 46th Vinitaly event.
The tasting will be open first to select members of the trade from all over the world, then to the lucky enthusiasts who manage to get their hands on the 500 tickets available.
